Smith, Testwuide have three-point nights as Houston handles Toronto 5-2

HOUSTON - Nathan Smith scored twice and added an assist as the Houston Aeros defeated the Toronto Marlies 5-2 Saturday night in American Hockey League action.

Smith scored two goals less than three minutes apart in the second period to put Houston up 4-0. His first of the night was enough to chase Toronto starter Joey MacDonald from the net with seven saves on 10 shots.

J.P. Testwuide had a goal and two assists, while Matt Kassian and Jean-Michel Daoust also scored for the Aeros (20-17-7).

Greg Scott scored early in the third period for the Marlies (15-19-7), while Kyle Calder cut Houston's lead to two with just under five minutes remaining before Testwuide iced the game with a short-handed goal two minutes later.

Wade Dubielewicz made 30 saves for the Aeros, while Toronto backup Andrew Engelage stopped 14 of 16 shots in relief.
