St. Louis blues assign defenceman Alex Pietrangelo to the Niagara IceDogs.

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Blues assigned assigned defenceman Alex Pietrangelo to the OHL's Niagara IceDogs on Wednesday.

The move comes after Pietrangelo earned a silver medal with Canada's national team following a 6-5 overtime loss to the United States in the world junior hockey championship game Tuesday night.

Pietrangelo led all defenceman in scoring in the tournament with 12 points (three goals, nine assists).

He was also named the tournament's top defenceman.

Prior to taking part in the world junior tournament, Pietrangelo had a goal and an assist in nine games with the Blues.
