Staal, Hurricanes seeking more success against Thrashers

Atlanta (12-20-5) at Carolina (17-15-5), 8:00 pm EST

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Carolina Hurricanes play

the Atlanta Thrashers eight times per season. Eric Staal likely

wishes the teams got together even more.

Staal will seek another breakout performance against the

Southeast Division rival when the Hurricanes host the Thrashers

on Wednesday.

Before Saturday's 4-2 setback to the Boston Bruins, Staal netted

his sixth career hat trick to lead Carolina to a 5-4 victory

over Atlanta on Friday.

Staal has 15 goals and 37 points in 33 games against the

Thrashers in his career. The 24-year-old has posted 17 goals

and 11 assists overall this season.

Muddling through another campaign, Atlanta is hoping to avoid a

fourth straight loss.

Bryan Little has been a bright spot for the last-place

Thrashers, posting a team-high 18 goals.
