DALLAS - The Dallas Stars have placed defenceman Alex Goligoski on injured reserve with a broken thumb.

The team announced the move Tuesday, four days after Goligoski was injured in a 3-1 loss at Pittsburgh. There was no immediate word on how long he'll be out, but he won't play Tuesday night against Florida.

Goligoski is second among Dallas defencemen with six points (two goals, four assists). He has logged more than 20 minutes in 36 of 38 games since leaving the Penguins in a February trade.

Goligoski also missed Saturday's game at Detroit.
