Stars hoping to turn things around vs. Bruins

Dallas (4-5-1) at Boston (5-3-3), 7:00 p.m. EDT

BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars' usually dependable defense

has been anything but thus far this season.

Dallas hopes to halt its defensive woes when it visits the

Boston Bruins in the second game of a five-game road trip on

The Stars, who have finished in the top six in the league in

goals-against average each of the last five seasons, rank

dead-last (4.09 GAA) in the NHL this campaign.

Tobias Stephan allowed five goals on 27 shots in Dallas' 5-2

setback at Chicago on Friday. It was the sixth time this season

the Stars have surrendered at least five goals in a contest.

The Bruins, who are not much of an offensive team, return home

after a 2-1-0 road trip to the Pacific Northwest. Boston posted

back-to-back 1-0 victories over Edmonton and Vancouver before

losing, 3-2, to Calgary on Thursday.

Tim Thomas started each game on the road trip and leads the team

with a 1.95 GAA as he starts to establish himself as the No. 1

goaltender ahead of Manny Fernandez.

Marc Savard leads Boston with nine assists and 14 points. He

has set up at least one goal in four straight games.
