Steve Mason keeps Flyers rolling with stupendous save

Philadelphia is red-hot and their starting goaltender has been a huge part of the streak. Can Mason keep the good vibes going for the entire season?

The Philadelphia Flyers have officially turned things around and goaltender Steve Mason is leading the charge. The veteran netminder has reeled off five wins in a row, ceding no more than two goals in any of those appearances. Not coincidentally, the Flyers are climbing up the standings because of that and now look a lot more like the team we thought they were heading into the campaign.

Mason's latest triumph was a 42-save number against the Florida Panthers and here's an example of his stunning work:

That's Jussi Jokinen having his night ruined, for the record, and the Flyers would go on to win the game 3-2 in overtime. Mason's great play is especially heartening for Philly fans since both he and Michal Neuvirth struggled mightily at the beginning of the season. But with Mason finding his form, the Flyers now have a solid outfit that includes hot forwards Wayne Simmonds, Jakub Voracek and captain Claude Giroux. The team has won six games in a row and vaulted into the top wild card slot in the East, albeit with a couple games played more than many competitors.
