Suspended Ducks' forward Jacques clears waivers, assigned to minors

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Suspended Anaheim Ducks left wing Jean-Francois Jacques has been sent to the minors after clearing waivers.

Anaheim sent Jacques to Syracuse of the AHL on Thursday.

The NHL suspended Jacques for the rest of the pre-season and five regular-season games on Tuesday for starting a fight with Vancouver's Mike Duco during exhibition play last weekend.

Jacques, who spent the past six seasons with Edmonton, was a longshot to make the Ducks' roster even before the suspension, which could subject him to additional discipline in the AHL.

Anaheim wraps up its NHL pre-season schedule at home against the Los Angeles Kings on Friday before heading to Europe. The Ducks will face Finnish club Jokerit in their final exhibition on Tuesday.
