Taffe scores twice as Rochester cruises to 5-2 AHL victory over Toronto

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Jeff Taffe scored twice as part of Rochester's four-goal second period, leading the Americans to a 5-2 win over the Toronto Marlies on Friday night in the American Hockey League.

After David Brine put the Americans (3-1-1) up 1-0 with a short-handed goal at 14:33 of the first period, Taffe extended the lead at 3:33 of the second. Michal Repik and Jason Garrison followed with power-play goals, and Taffe added his second of the night - and fourth of the season - at 16:18 as Rochester enjoyed a 5-1 advantage through two periods.

Brennan Evans and Christian Hanson each had their first goals of the season for the Marlies (2-2-0).

Alexander Salak stopped 30 shots to earn the win for the Americans.

Netminder Andrew Engelage started for Toronto, but was pulled after two periods having allowed five goals on just 14 shots. Adam Munro relieved him, and made 10 saves the rest of the way.
