The Geno Show

Jackson Theune, Sherwood Park, Alta.

I have the great privilege of Oilers season tickets and when I heard the Pens were coming to town, I couldn't wait.

Since Pittsburgh only comes to Edmonton every couple years, I was extremely excited, especially because I would get to see Sid the Kid, the face of his franchise and the NHL.

I went to the game with a buddy and was really looking forward to seeing Crosby light it up. Throughout the entire first period I had my eyes on Sid, watching his every move, but halfway through my gaze shifted to another Pittsburgh player, Evgeni Malkin.

I noticed Malkin's skill, his speed, his grit. He played the game like a hockey player should.

Throughout the rest of the night, I kept a lookout for Geno and he impressed me every time he stepped out on the ice. He controls the puck extremely well, draws penalties, dishes out huge hits and knows how to put the puck in the net.

It was a real privilege to see this Russian wonder play and I think he deserves to be just as much a face of the Penguins as Crosby does.

Thank you, Geno, for an entertaining evening of hockey.
