I can't believe the negative press Wayne Gretzky has received since he walked away from the biggest mess the NHL has seen in a long time.

Forget that he is the greatest hockey player ever or one of the greatest Canadians ever, but to say that he "quit" on the Phoenix Coyotes is ridiculous.

He did the right thing by stepping down and letting a new coach take over the team from the beginning of the season. He would have done it sooner, but he thought this mess would be dealt with already like the rest of the hockey world.
