2008/11/25: The National Hockey League has suspended L.A. Kings winger John Zeiler for three games because of his check from behind on Colorado defenseman Adam Foote this past Saturday. Zeiler is scheduled to return to action on December 1 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Daniel Tjarnqvist, D, Colorado Avalanche

2008/11/25: Colorado Avalanche defenseman Daniel Tjarnqvist was pressed into service on Monday night due to the back injury to veteran blueliner Adam Foote. It was the journeyman Swede's first regular-season appearance as an Av. Tjarnqvist was battling a foot problem.

2008/11/25: Florida Panthers defenseman Nick Boynton missed Monday's home contest against Carolina because of a concussion. He was replaced by fellow vet Jassen Cullimore, who returned to action following a one-game absence (knee).

Joe Sakic, C, Colorado Avalanche

2008/11/25: Colorado Avalanche captain Joe Sakic, who was expected to return to action Monday night at Anaheim, instead missed the contest due to root canal surgery. Sakic also missed seven games because of a back issue.

Steve Ott, W/C, Dallas Stars

2008/11/25: Dallas Stars agitator Steve Ott missed Monday's road loss at Philadelphia because of a broken right hand. He's expected to be out of action for the next month. Call-up Chris Conner replaced Ott in the Stars lineup.

Tim Gleason, D, Carolina Hurricanes

2008/11/25: Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tim Gleason missed Monday night's road contest against the Florida Panthers because of a lower body injury. He's listed as day to day. Anton Babchuk, who was a healthy scratch the previous game against Nashville, replaced Gleason in the lineup.

Richard Zednik, RW/LW, Florida Panthers

2008/11/25: A check into the boards forced veteran Florida forward Richard Zednik out of Monday's game in the second period and did not return. He's played in every game so far this season. The injury is being described as a long-term arm injury by the Panthers.

2008/11/25: According to the Vancouver Canucks, superstar netminder Roberto Luongo's injury status is officially week to week. He has a groin injury that occurred last Saturday afternoon at Pittsburgh. Journeyman Curtis Sanford got the first start with Luongo injured on Monday night against Detroit.

Wojtek Wolski, LW, Colorado Avalanche

2008/11/25: Colorado winger Wojtek Wolski missed Monday's game due to a head injury suffered on Saturday. The 22-year-old is being evaluated before they decide how long he'll be out.

2008/11/24: Washington defense prospect Karl Alzner appears ready for the NHL but the Capitals' salary-cap situation is preventing the team from recalling him this early. Alzner has produced eight points and a plus-14 rating in 19 games so far with the American League's Hershey Bears. As soon as it's financially viable, he'll make his much-awaited NHL debut in D.C.

Jiri Tlusty, LW/RW, Toronto Maple Leafs

2008/11/24: Toronto forward prospect Jiri Tlusty has three assists in eight AHL games since a recent demotion back to the Toronto Marlies (the 20-year-old Czech went pointless in nine games with the Maple Leafs early on). He must make better use of his physical gifts and work harder away from the puck in order to get another chance this season.
