The Hockey News, a staple for fans for more than 60 years, is set to launch a new radio show on XM Canada, the country’s leading satellite radio service, Friday, Dec. 15.
The Hockey News Radio Show will air on XM Canada’s NHL Home Ice (XM Channel 204) every Friday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST with a repeat on Sunday afternoon’s from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. EST.
The show, hosted by THN’s Adam Proteau and XM Canada’s Mike Ross, will be a one-hour hockey magazine style show focusing on current events, controversies and hot topics with weekly high profile guests.
“THN Radio is going to provide what no other hockey show can – namely, the stories behind the stories you read in our magazine or on TheHockeyNews.com,” says Proteau, who serves as THN’s columnist and writer and won the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association’s Column of the Year Award in 2005. “We’ll be bringing in THN staffers each week to discuss and debate the issues that matter to the greatest game there is. To be able to do so on XM 204, home to the world’s most passionate, diverse collection of hockey fans, is a tremendous thrill and privilege.”
Adds Ross: "Having read The Hockey News for years and admiring their brand as the pre-eminent source for hockey information, I am thrilled to be part of the team that will bring it from the pages to the airwaves. Adam and I will certainly be true to the newsworthy side of The Hockey News while incorporating some humor, pop culture references and our own opinions about the events in the world of hockey.
The Hockey News Radio Show launches Friday December 5th with special guest Jeremy Roenick.
