The little guy deserves a trophy, too

While I found the latter half of Ken Campbell's facetious "Everyone Gets a Trophy Day" article mildly amusing, I couldn't help but feel a little sick reading his pretentious preamble ranting about the merits of only giving trophies to "winners" in minor hockey, which reeked of high school jock mentality.

Did it ever occur to him the kids who most develop this "over-inflated sense of entitlement" are the same ones columnists like Ken drool over come draft time, not the ones on mediocre house league teams playing purely for love of the sport?

Showing up to play for reasons other than the scouts does deserve a trophy.
