The suspension double standard

Well the NHL and Colin Campbell sent a clear message to the players and fans there is an unwritten rule protecting its stars.

Chris Pronger gets eight games? What a joke. Just enough to make it back in time for the playoffs.

Chris Simon, for the same offense, got 30.

OK, Simon is a repeat offender, but so is Pronger. The message sent to the players is clear: Grinders=goon; Star = bad decision maker.

Colin Campbell please tell me what pee-wee coach would tell his players it’s fine to step on someone if you are a star, but not if you’re a fourth line guy.

John C. Caulfield, Petersburg, N.J.
