Three stars look for help as Senators face Panthers

Ottawa (3-5-1) at Florida (4-4-0) 7:30 p.m. EDT

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators handed the

Buffalo Sabres their first regulation loss of the season on

Monday, and it was no surprise who carried the struggling team.

Ottawa will look for a more balanced scoring attack and

consecutive wins for the first time this season when it faces

off against the Florida Panthers on Thursday.

Dany Heatley, Jason Spezza and captain Daniel Alfredsson

combined for seven points in the Senators' triumph over the

Sabres. The trio has registered 13 goals, nearly half of the

team's total of 27, and 19 assists thus far this season.

Outside of defenseman Filip Kuba, who has collected 11 assists,

Shean Donovan is the only other Senator to have recorded more

than three points on the campaign.

Florida, which is 3-1-0 at home this season, hopes to continue

its strong play in its own building before opening a five-game

road trip Saturday in Nashville.

After an impressive 4-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks on

Friday, the Panthers followed with a lackluster effort on

Saturday, managing only 17 shots in a 4-0 loss to the St. Louis

Blues that ended their bid for a third straight victory.

Florida's power play has been virtually non-existent this

season, scoring just three times in 35 chances (8.6 percent).
