It wasn't the craziest week in the NHL, but some drama in Edmonton, a standout from Anaheim and a super unlikely scenario with the Canucks kept things interesting. Here's a look at three notable stories from the past week:

The Canucks organization calls upon multiple EBUG on the same night

With Jaroslav Halak, Spencer Martin, Arturs Silovs, and Thatcher Demko forced to miss time due to COVID-19, the team needed to get creative.

But here's the kicker: with four of the team's top goaltenders out of action, that meant both the NHL and AHL Canucks needed to go the U Sports route for backup help.

Rylan Toth of the University of British Columbia was called upon to backup for Michael DiPietro while Trinity Western University's Talor Joseph suited up for Abbotsford.

What a weird situation.

Brendan Perlini keeps things balanced

By now, you've all seen Leon Draisaitl's interaction with Edmonton Journal reporter Jim Matheson. The tense exchange overshadowed Brendan Perlini's previous availability and his positive outlook even during the team's current slump.

After the Oilers 4-3 win over the Calgary Flames on Saturday a game in which Perlini would get his third goal of the season he was the guest on Hockey Night In Canada's After Hours segment and spoke about how important it is to have balance in life, and it was a segment that saw viewers hail Perlini as one of the best post game guests.

No matter the Oilers record, it's hard to not be in Perlini's corner on and off the ice.

Trevor Zegras is Going to Las Vegas

The Anaheim Ducks young star gets quite a bit of attention here at The Hockey News and for good reason.

While Zegras won't play in the actual all-star game itself, but he'll still travel to Vegas to take part in the fan-favorite Breakaway Challenge. And we all know how creative he can be.

The league has to promote their young stars no matter if they're formally an all-star or not and this is a pretty good darn opportunity to do so.
