Tim Stapleton named AHL player of the week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Toronto Marlies centre Tim Stapleton is the American Hockey League's player of the week.

Stapleton recorded three goals and two assists in two games for the Marlies last week.

On Friday night versus Hamilton, Stapleton registered his first two-goal game, including his second game-winning goal of the season, to help Toronto to a 4-2 victory over the Bulldogs.

Saturday, he had a goal and an assist along with a game-high 10 shots on goal in a 6-3 loss to Rockford.

Stapleton leads Toronto with 32 assists and 41 points in 42 games this season.
