Toronto Maple Leafs confirm pictures of third jersey are legitimate

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs acknowledge the secret is out of the bag.

The team confirmed on its corporate Twitter account Tuesday that pictures of its new third sweater which surfaced on the Internet are legitimate.

The Leafs say they are disappointed the jersey was "unexpectedly revealed" and will now officially unveil it Friday.

The new jersey features a Maple Leaf crest that is reminiscent of the one worn during the team's last Stanley Cup season in 1967.

It was mistakenly displayed on racks at the Buffalo Sabres team store where a fan with a sharp eye photographed it.

The Ottawa Senators were forced to do the same thing as the Leafs over the weekend when photos of their new third sweater were leaked as well.
