Torrid Red Wings look for fifth straight win

Detroit (19-4-4) at Dallas (10-13-4), 8:30 pm EST

DALLAS (Ticker) -- Despite several defensive lapses, the Detroit

Red Wings have used a high-octane offense to generate another

winning streak.

The Red Wings look to win their fifth straight contest when they

visit the struggling Dallas Stars on Friday.

Detroit is coming off a 4-3 overtime victory over the Calgary

Flames on Wednesday, four days after edging the Chicago

Blackhawks, 5-4, in a shootout. The Red Wings have outscored

opponents, 17-13, during their current win streak.

They have won five in a row twice already this season. The last

time they reached that mark was from November 13-22. The other

was from October 18-27.

Ty Conklin has started two straight games in goal in place of

Chris Osgood, but has surrendered seven goals. Osgood struggled

in his last game, a 6-5 win over the Vancouver Canucks on

December 4.

The Red Wings have dropped two in a row on the road.

Dallas is trudging through a dismal season and has yet to win

two in a row. The Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche, 2-1,

in a shootout last Friday but then fell, 5-3, to the Phoenix

Coyotes on Wednesday.

Veteran netminder Marty Turco has started 16 consecutive games

for the Stars. The 33-year-old is 9-12-4 with a 3.41

goals-against average in 25 games this season and has held

opponents to two goals or less just eight times.
