Turco look to continue leading Stars during stretch run

Dallas (27-20-7) at Chicago (30-15-8), 8:30 p.m. EST

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- A shoddy first half is a distant memory, and

the Dallas Stars have veteran goaltender Marty Turco to thank.

Turco will likely be in net once again as the Stars aim for

their fourth win in five games when visiting the Chicago

Blackhawks on Saturday.

Making his 25th straight start, Turco turned aside 32 shots as

Dallas posted a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on

Friday.

In the losing effort against the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday,

Turco stopped 28 shots as Dallas fell in regulation for just the

second time in 14 home contests (11-2-1). He also set the

franchise record for consecutive starts previously held by

Cesare Maniago, who started 23 games in a row for the Minnesota

North Stars in 1968-69.

The 33-year-old Turco has surrendered fewer than three goals

seven times in the last 10 contests.

The Stars, who are 11-13-3 on the road, have jettisoned to fifth

place in the Western Conference standings after spending much of

October and November in the basement.

Meanwhile, Chicago was shut out for the second straight time by

St. Louis - and for the fourth time this season - in a 1-0

setback on Friday.

The Blackhawks ended up 5-3-0 on their eight-game road trip, but

embark on a three-game trek after this contest.
