Vancouver Canucks lose defenceman Andrew Alberts to injury, recall Yann Sauve

VANCOUVER - The Vancouver Canucks recalled Yann Sauve from AHL Manitoba on Tuesday to help patch up their battered blue-line.

Andrew Alberts became the team's latest defenceman to go down with an injury when he suffered a broken wrist during Monday's 3-2 loss to St. Louis.

He joins defencemen Dan Hamhuis (concussion), Alex Edler (back), Keith Ballard (knee) and Lee Sweatt (foot) on the sidelines.

Sauve is a second-round pick from 2008 who is in his first pro season.

The 20-year-old appeared in 20 games for the AHL's Moose, recording three assists and eight penalty minutes.

Alberts had one goal and seven points in 42 games for the Canucks this year.
