Vancouver forward Raffi Torres named NHL's first star of the week

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Vancouver winger Raffi Torres, Columbus goaltender Mathieu Garon and St. Louis netminder Jaroslav Halak are the NHL's three stars of the week.

Torres earned first star honours after scoring a league-best five goals last week. He also added an assist as the Canucks recorded four victories to take over first place in the Northwest Division.

Garon stopped 75 of 78 shots he faced, posting back-to-back shutouts. He finished the week with a 2-1-0 record, a 1.01 goals-against average and .962 save percentage.

Halak stopped 58 of 59 shots to post a 2-0-0 record, a 0.48 goals-against average and .983 save percentage as the Blues improved to 9-1-2, first overall in the NHL standings.
