Veteran hockey producer John Shannon joins Rogers Sportsnet

TORONTO - Veteran hockey producer John Shannon is moving to the other side of the camera.

The former NHL executive vice-president of programming and production is joining the "Hockeycentral" panel on Rogers Sportsnet.

"My goal is to help explain the hockey world from another perspective, to tell stories that would otherwise go unnoticed, and to give hockey fans across the country a different viewpoint on the sport," Shannon said Monday in a release.

Shannon has spent more than 30 years overseeing television production of regional and national NHL games. Prior to joining the league head office, he worked for CBC and Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment.
