The Hockey News

From a young age, Radek Faksa has been sacrificing personal comforts to achieve his goal of playing in the NHL. At age 11, he left his hometown of Opava to play for HC Ocelari Trinec and spent the next six years living in a hotel and perfecting his craft with the club. Then at 17 he left the Czech Republic to join the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario League to get one step closer to his ultimate goal.

Faksa had a strong rookie season in the OHL and was drafted 13th overall by Dallas at the 2012 draft. Faksa is back in Kitchener this season, but will leave the team shortly to join the Czech U-20 team as they prepare for the World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia.

THN’s Ryan Kennedy caught up with Faksa to discuss the Stars' summer development camp, where he expects the Czech’s to finish at this year’s tournament and more.
