The Toronto Maple Leafs made several off-season acquisitions, but none bigger than defenseman Mike Komisarek.

Known for his bruising, stay-at-home style, Komisarek posted two goals and 11 points, while accumulating 121 penalty minutes in 66 games with the Montreal Canadiens last season.

Senior writer Ken Campbell caught up with Komisarek as he prepares for his first season in blue and white.

In Part 1 of the two-part interview, Komisarek talks about his decision to sign in Toronto, why he left Montreal, battling injuries and much more. Look for Part 2 of THN.com's in-depth look at the Leafs defender Sept. 29.
