VIDEO: Tomas Vokoun key to Florida Panthers success

This year’s installment of the Florida Panthers is a long way from the 1996 team that advanced to the Stanley Cup final. But one thing the two incarnations have in common is a reliable goaltender patrolling the crease. In 1996 it was John Vanbiesbrouck, today it is Czech native Tomas Vokoun.

Vokoun, who was acquired in a trade with Nashville on June 22, 2007, is trying to lead the Panthers back to the post-season for the first time since 2000. While the goalie market continues to become more unpredictable, Vokoun has had at least a .919 save percentage each year since the lockout and is again posting impressive totals.

THN’s Ryan Kennedy caught up with the Panthers netminder as he settled into his fourth year with the Panthers.
