Vokoun faces old team as Panthers host Predators

Nashville (16-13-3) at Florida (15-13-4) 7:30 pm. EST

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- Tomas Vokoun will look to exact

some revenge on his former team when the Florida Panthers host

the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.

Vokoun spent eight seasons as the No. 1 goaltender with the

Predators, leading the franchise to its first three postseason

berths before being traded to Florida for three draft picks

prior to last season.

The 32-year-old Czech got off slowly, but is 2-0-1 with a 1.27

goals-against average in his last three starts. He stopped 23

shots for his second shutout in a 3-0 win over Colorado on

Sunday.

In his only other start against Florida, Vokoun stopped 29 shots

in a 4-3 loss in Nashville on October 27 of last season.

Thanks in part to Vokoun, Florida has been playing well

defensively, allowing 2.15 goals per game while winning eight of

its last 13 games (8-2-3).

The Predators are coming off a 1-0 win over New York on

Saturday. Vernon Fiddler scored and Pekka Rine stopped 23 shots

for his third shutout.

Dan Ellis is Nashville's top goaltender, but Rine may get the

nod once again. The 26-year-old Finn is 7-1-0 with a 2.31 GAA

with all three shutouts coming in his last five starts.
