Ward, Hurricanes seeking third straight win

Carolina (23-20-5) at NY Rangers (28-16-4), 7:00 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Cam Ward is hoping the All-Star break

didn't cool him down.

Ward and the Carolina Hurricanes will look for their third

straight victory when they visit the New York Rangers on

Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Ward heated up just before the All-Star Weekend.

After losing his previous five starts, Ward stopped 67 of the 68

shots he faced during back-to-back road wins over the Toronto

Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins last week.

A former Conn Smythe Trophy winner, Ward is 18-14-3 with a 2.57

goals-against average and two shutouts this season.

Ward will be opposed in this one by All-Star netminder Henrik

Lundqvist, who was peppered with pucks during the midseason

gala. Lundqvist surrendered six goals on 21 shots during the

second period.

Few were better than Lundqvist before the break. The

26-year-old Swede has posted a 24-13-3 record with a 2.53

goals-against average and two shutouts.

Like Ward, Lundqvist was also starting to play well before the

All-Star Game. He had won four of his previous five starts,

including a 32-save effort during last Tuesday's 4-2 triumph

over the Anaheim Ducks.
