After 10 seasons with the Canucks, Kevin Bieksa returned to Vancouver on Friday as a member of the opposition.

The Canucks honored Bieksa with a video tribute during the first period of their 2-1 shootout win over the Ducks.

Originally a fifth-round pick of the Canucks in 2001, Bieksa appeared in 597 regular season games with Vancouver scoring 56 goals and 241 points while registering 879 penalty minutes.

Bieksa also appeared in 71 postseason games with the Canucks scoring 10 goals and 15 assists.

“I’ve got nothing but good memories of Vancouver,” Bieksa said per The Orange County Register. “I played my heart out there and I love the city. … Just proud of the culture and proud of everything that we accomplished.”

The 34-year-old, who was dealt to Anaheim in June, has appeared in 37 games with the Ducks notching four assists and 59 penalty minutes while averaging over 22 minutes a night in ice time.

“There’s a lot of different emotions that come your way,” Bieksa said of his trade to Anaheim. “At first, you’re a little bit (ticked) off. And then after that, you start to see that there’s a lot of options out there.

“It’s a little overwhelming. It’s very flattering. And I just tried to make the best decision for my family.”

The Ducks, who trail the Canucks by two points in the Pacific Division, return home to start an eight-game home stand on Sunday.
