Watch EIHL player dish two of the most jaw-dropping assists you’ll see all season

In one game, EIHL winger Chris Higgins made a between-the-legs touch pass for an assist and followed that up with a one-handed deke to spinning, falling assist later in the contest. Higgins’ second assist of the contest could stand up as the best assist anyone tallies in any league all season.

Landing on the highlight reel for one assist is hard enough, but Chris Higgins — no, not that Chris Higgins — of the EIHL’s Belfast Giants managed to leave fans in awe with not one, but two remarkable assists in a weekend tilt against the Manchester Storm.

With the score tied 2-2, Higgins notched his first assist thanks to a bit of incredible feel. On a dump in, the puck bounced off the back wall. Reading the angle, Higgins beat the Storm defenders to the puck then redirected it back between his own legs right onto the tape of Giants teammate Brandon Benedict who one-timed it home:

And even though the first assist was a thing of beauty, it ended up being nothing compared to what might go down as the assist of the season in any league anywhere.

After the Giants had taken a 5-2 lead earlier in the third period, Higgins had the opportunity to really seal the deal with what can only accurately be called a one-handed, spinning, diving assist.

Higgins had overskated a pass from teammate Mike Forney and was forced to reach back to tap it to his forehand. With a Manchester defender in his face, Higgins tapped the puck one-handed around the defenseman, slipped the bodycheck and, while losing his balance, Higgins managed to spin, corral the puck and slide a perfect no-look pass onto the tape of Forney for a tap-in.

For Higgins, 29, this is his third season in the EIHL, but college hockey fans might recognize the name. From 2005-06 to 2008-09, Higgins played more than 150 games for Boston University, where he scored 49 goals and 133 points. After bouncing around the minor leagues in North America — he played for five ECHL clubs and had a seven-game stint with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch — Higgins landed in the EIHL in 2013-14.

If he wants a trip back to the AHL or ECHL, Higgins may just have it after putting himself on the radar with these pair of assists.
