Jaromir Jagr continued his assault on the NHL's all-time record books on Saturday night. The just-turned-44-year-old sniper scored career goals No. 741 and 742 to pass Brett Hull for third most all time.

His first goal came early in the second period with the Florida Panthers trailing the Winnipeg Jets 1-0. Jagr drove to the net and deftly redirected a pass from Dmitry Kulikov past Michael Hutchinson. Here's the goal and the ensuing celebration.

Then in the third period, Jagr out-muscled Tyler Myers in front of the Winnipeg goal and banged in a loose puck for No. 742:

Jagr's two goals, his 19th and 20th of the season, secured a 3-1 win for the Panthers.

Earlier this week Jagr joined a very short list of players who have scored an NHL goal after their 44th birthday, joining Gordie Howe, Doug Harvey, and Chris Chelios. He also made a strong case to be called the greatest 40-plus NHLer of all time.

Jagr is on pace to score 28 goals for the Atlantic-leading Panthers this season. That would be his highest single-season NHL total since he scored 30 with the Rangers in 2006-07.

Jagr now trails Howe by 59 goals for second on the all-time list. Back in December when Jagr passed Marcel Dionne for fourth, we crunched some numbers to gauge his chances of passing Howe. Long story short, it's possible but not probable. Though it's safe to say Jagr should never be counted out.
