Watch: O’Reilly beats Talbot from centre ice

Talbot surrendered four goals on 15 shots and was briefly replaced by Jonas Gustavsson.

Ryan O’Reilly’s second goal on Sunday night is one Cam Talbot would like to have back.

With the game between the Sabres and Oilers tied at 2-2 early in the second period, O’Reilly’s bouncing dump-in got past Talbot from near centre ice.

Entering Sunday’s game, Talbot had surrendered seven goals in two games, but the Oilers managed to win both contests against the Calgary Flames.

Talbot surrendered four goals on 15 shots and was briefly replaced by Jonas Gustavsson. Gustavsson left the game after just 10 minutes of game action making one save after an Oilers defenceman collided with the goaltender.

Sportsnet’s Mark Spector suggested that Gustavsson was pulled by one of the off-ice concussion spotters.

The 31-year-old has a concussion history missing time during the 2014-15 season after being run over by Milan Lucic.
