Watch Senators' Turris and Ryan make magic on gorgeous give-and-go goal

Ottawa’s Kyle Turris knew how beautiful the give-and-go between he and Bobby Ryan was as soon as he fired the puck by Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask.

Through the first 20 games of the Ottawa Senators’ season, no player has been as lethal with the puck on his stick as Kyle Turris. That said, scoring is made much, much easier when the setups leading to the tally are almost flawless.

Turris entered Thursday’s game against the Bruins as the second highest scorer on the Senators, and Turris netted his ninth goal of the season in Ottawa’s 3-1 victory over Boston thanks to a dazzling give-and-go play with Bobby Ryan.

Midway through the third period, with Ottawa already ahead 2-1, Turris cut into the Bruins’ zone and had his space cut down by defenseman Adam McQuaid. However, before the puck could be taken off of Turris’ stick, he slipped it between his legs and laid out a perfect drop pass for the oncoming Ryan to scoop up.

As soon as Ryan had the puck, Turris was driving hard to the net, and as McQuaid turned off of Turris to attack the puck carrier, Ryan found a passing lane between McQuaid’s stick and skates, fed Turris and the Senators’ leading goal scorer made no mistake. Turris’ face says it all:

With the marker, Turris is now more than one-third of the way to setting a career high with three-quarters of the season remaining, and with the amount of ice time he’s seeing in Ottawa, it’s hard to fathom there’ll be all that much of a slow down for the 27-year-old. Under coach Guy Boucher, Turris is averaging more than 19 minutes per game and is the most heavily relied upon forward in Ottawa.

Once Turris’ assist totals — he has just three in 20 games — catch up to his goal totals, there’s a possibility he could be looking at flirting with a career-high in points, too. He’s on pace for a 49-point year at present, which is a far cry from his career-best 64 points, but a few big games on the score sheet and Turris is right back to being a 50-plus-point player.
