Watch: Subban scores in Preds debut

The Preds' defenceman scored on his first shot in his new uniform.

It didn’t take long for P.K. Subban to find the score sheet with his new team.

The Predators defenceman took a Ryan Johansen feed and beat a screened Corey Crawford with a shot from the point, on a power play, at 7:46 of the first period briefly tying the game against the Blackhawks at 1-1.

Kim Fraser of Montreal Children's Hospital told Adam Vingan of The Tennessean that Subban will dedicate his goal to 8-year-old Tony Montagna, who will receive a bone anchored hearing aid paid for by P.K.'s Helping Hand.

Subban was dealt to the Preds by the Montreal Canadiens for Shea Weber in June just days before his no-trade clause was set to kick in.

Weber picked up an assist and a plus-3 rating in 24:04 of ice time in his debut with the Habs on Thursday night – a 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

"I just look forward to being able to put all the crap that's happening in the media, off the ice, around us just away because we've got a good group of guys," Subban said following the Preds 3-2 win over Chicago. "I think if we're focused and the focus is on our team and not just on crap off the ice, I think we're going to have a lot of success. That's part of what I said in my speech after the game. Let's just focus on playing hockey and keep moving forward."

In 434 games with the Canadiens, Subban, Montreal's 2007 second-round pick, registered 63 goals and 278 points. The Ontario native won the Norris Trophy as the league's top blue liner in 2013.
