Wayne Simmonds, Zdeno Chara and Mike Smith named NHL weekly award winners

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Philadelphia Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds, Boston Bruins defenceman Zdeno Chara and Phoenix Coyotes goalie Mike Smith were named the NHL's three stars of the week on Monday.

Simmonds was the top star with five goals and one assist in four games, helping the Flyers move within one point of Pittsburgh for the fourth seed, and home-ice advantage, in the Eastern Conference.

In his first season with Philadelphia, the 23-year-old has established a career-high in goals with 27 in 79 games.

Chara captured the second star after recording seven assists as the Bruins clinched their third Northeast Division title in the last four seasons and the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

Smith had two shutouts in two starts as the Coyotes won both of their games to remain in the hunt for the Pacific Division title.

The 30-year-old made a combined 82 stops and hasn't allowed a goal in 139 minutes 59 seconds dating to March 24.
