Williams scores twice, Grand Rapids Griffins down Manitoba Moose 4-1 in AHL play

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Jeremy Williams scored twice for Grand Rapids to help the Griffins down the Manitoba Moose 4-1 in American Hockey League action Friday night.

Logan Pyett and Patrick Rissmiller also scored for the Griffins (26-34-4).

Lawrence Nycholat had the lone goal for Manitoba (31-28-6).

Williams capitalized on a power play to open the scoring four minutes into the first period, firing a wrist shot over Moose goalie Cory Schneider's left shoulder.

The Griffins then extended their lead when Williams scored his second of the night with assists from Rissmiller and Jan Mursak.

Nycholat answered for the Moose at 18:18 when he fired an accurate long shot from the point to beat Griffins goalie Daniel Larsson on his glove side.

Grand Rapids pulled ahead just over a minute later with a goal from Pyett.

Rissmiller confirmed the win for the Griffins with an empty-netter before the game ended.

Larsson made 24 saves for the Griffins while, Schneider stopped 32 of 35 shots in defeat for Manitoba.
