Winnipeg acquires forward Eric Fehr from Washington for pick, prospect

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets have brought another Manitoba boy into the fold.

The Jets acquired centre Eric Fehr from the Washington Capitals on Friday for a fourth-round draft pick in 2012 and prospect Danick Paquette.

Fehr is a native of Winkler, Man., who put up 20 points (10-10) in 52 games for the Capitals last season.

The 25-year-old had spent his entire NHL career in Washington after being drafted 18th overall in 2003.

Prior to that, Fehr played in his home province for the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings.

In the last week, the Jets signed Winnipeg natives Jason Gregoire and Derek Meech along with Rick Rypien and Mark Flood, two former members of the Manitoba Moose.
