The Bruins have made a very, very smart move.

The Boston Bruins have signed forward Mark Kastelic to a three-year contract extension. Starting next season, the gritty forward will carry a $1.567 million cap hit.

Kastelic was acquired by the Bruins from the Ottawa Senators this past off-season in the Linus Ullmark trade. Since then, Kastelic has thrived as a Bruin, posting four goals and 11 points in 39 games. He has also given the club's bottom six plenty more bite, as he already has 76 penalty minutes and 151 hits on the season. 

We here at The Hockey News Boston argued that the Bruins should sign Kastelic to an extension last week because of how wonderfully he has fit into the club's system. Now, that has come to fruition.

Due to his excellent play, Kastelic will now be a Bruin for three more years. It will be fun to see how he performs with the club from here.
