This Sabres forward could be a popular trade target as we get closer to the deadline.

After a 13-game winless streak, the Buffalo Sabres' season has taken an immensely ugly turn. They are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, and their playoff hopes have taken a nosedive.

Unless the Sabres can go on a serious run from here and get back into the playoff race, it seems likely that they will be selling off some of their pending unrestricted free agents again at the trade deadline. If this does occur, Sabres forward Jason Zucker is one specific player who should generate a lot of interest.

Zucker, 32, is in the middle of a strong season with the Sabres. In 35 games this campaign, he has nine goals, 23 points, and a plus-2 rating. The only Sabres with more points than Zucker at this point of the season are Tage Thompson, JJ Peterka, and Alex Tuch.

Contenders looking for a boost in their middle six will likely consider Zucker. His experience and leadership qualities should also make him appealing to playoff teams.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Zucker from here. A trade could very well occur if he is not extended once the deadline is here.
