The Buffalo Sabres lost in overtime to the Colorado Avalanche by a 6-5 final score last night. While it was a close game, this was another new low for the struggling Sabres.
This game was the Sabres' to lose, and they ultimately threw it away. The Sabres had a commanding 3-0 lead in the second period, a 4-2 lead early in the third, and then a 5-3 lead with less than four minutes left in the game. However, the Sabres surrendered two unanswered goals during the final minutes of the third, including Jonathan Drouin's game-tying goal with eight seconds left.
From there, Devon Toews scored the OT winner to complete the Avalanche's outstanding comeback and the Sabres' epic collapse.

This loss is just the latest brutal one for a Sabres club that is desperately trying to get their season back on track. With this loss, they now have a 14-20-5 record and remain at the bottom of the Atlantic Division standings.
