Cole Schwindt, who was acquired in the trade that sent Matthew Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers in the summer of 2022, was summoned to the Calgary Flames on Tuesday in anticipation of tonight’s clash with the St. Louis Blues.
Schwindt, 22, is looking to play his first game for Calgary. A third-round pick of the Panthers in 2019, he skated in three games for Florida.
The Flames find themselves in need of a forward with Dillon Dube taking a leave of absence to deal with his mental health and Martin Pospisil injured. Andrew Mangiapane missed Monday’s practice due to “maintenance”, but took the ice during Tuesday's morning skate.
Schwindt, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound centre has collected eight goals and 20 points in 37 games this season with the AHL Calgary Wranglers.
He was acquired by Calgary along with Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar and a first-round draft choice.
