Suffered the injury in Monday's practice; Flames will rely on backup Dan Vladar and have summoned top prospect Dustin Wolf from AHL Wranglers

Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom has been sidelined due to a broken finger suffered in practice and is out on a week-to-week basis. Surgery was not required.

The Flames, who play host to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, have summoned top prospect Dustin Wolf from the AHL Calgary Wranglers. The reigning two-time AHL top goaltender and last season's league MVP will team with Dan Vladar for the time being.

“It sucks for him. It sucks for us," defenceman Rasmus Andersson said. "We just got to rally as a team. If it’s Vladdy or Wolfie, whoever plays, we still have a lot of trust in our goalies.”

Markstrom appeared to be hit in his blocker hand while reaching out in an attempt to make a save. He immediately left the ice and headed to the room.

“It’s not as bad as it seemed," coach Ryan Huska said. "Week-to-week, you could see him in one week. It could be shortly there after. It’s not something we expect to be long-term.

“He wanted to pay tonight, still. That’s the way he is.

“I don’t anticipate him being out all that long, knowing him.”

Markstrom has posted a 6-8-2 record with a 2.73 goals against-average and .909 save percentage, numbers that belie how well he has played.

Vladar has a 4-2-1 record with 3.20 GAA and .883 SvPct. He shone brightly in his last outing, a 2-1 overtime win over the Vegas Golden Knights last Monday.

Wolf, who played in one NHL game this season — a 4-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Nov. 11 — has a 10-3-0 mark with a 2.50 GAA and .920 SvPct. with the Wranglers.

He delivered a 43-save performance in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Henderson Silver Knights, and a 32-save outing in a 2-1 victory over Henderson two night's earlier.
