Coach Ryan Huska may need a program with all of the roster changes the Calgary Flames have made heading into their Tuesday road clash with the Boston Bruins.
After trading away Elias Lindholm and adding Andrei Kuzmenko last week, then claiming defenceman Brayden Pachal off waivers, the Flames on Sunday summoned forwards Jakob Pelletier, Kevin Rooney and Cole Schwindt from the AHL Wranglers.
The Flames also placed forward A.J. Greer on injury reserve. Greer suffered a broken foot on Jan. 25, and is expected to miss eight weeks.
Pelletier and Rooney both suffered pre-season shoulder injuries that required surgery and spent the past few weeks with the Wranglers. They both played four AHL games.
Pelletier, 22, the 2019 first-round draft choice, was pencilled in for a full-time job with the Flames this season before being injured when he was hit from behind. He collected two goals and three points in his four AHL outings. The outgoing Pelletier adds some skill and speed to the top-nine.
Rooney, 30, is more of a fourth-line player, capable of skating on the wing or at centre. He has played 227 NHL regular season games.
Both were in the mix for the opening night roster before suffering their injuries.
Schwindt, 22, skated in a trio of NHL games before the all-star break before he was returned to the Wranglers.
Forward Martin Pospisil is also expected to return to the lineup in Boston, the first outing in a four-game road trip.
