The Carolina Hurricanes will face the Detroit Red Wings (31-28-6) tonight in the final game of a four-game homestand.

The Canes have strung together five wins in a row despite all the noise and drama surrounding them at the trade deadline and they'll be looking to continue to build their playoff cushion.

Carolina is coming off of a 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, a game in which Pyotr Kochetkov outdueled Andrei Vasilevskiy and the Canes all-around played a dominating possession-heavy game.

The team is also finding ways to win despite some key injuries such as those to Andrei Svechnikov and Dmitry Orlov, who coach Rod Brind'Amour said aren't considered long-term absences.

Detroit snapped a six-game losing streak on Wednesday, defeating the Buffalo Sabres 7-3.

The Red Wings are in the midst of an intense playoff race, as there are five teams all within two points of one another for the final wild spot.

So it will be a desperate Detroit team in Raleigh tonight.
