With the start of the NHL season about 10 days aways and teams ready to get down to business, the Carolina Hurricanes took to social media to share a childhood photo of Seth Jarvis that brought some laughs.
Late this summer on August 31st, the Hurricanes locked up one of their best young players in Seth Jarvis to a new 8-year $59.36M contract. The deal not only keeps Jarvis in Raleigh for the long-term but was also a unprecedented one, as it includes deferred salary, which is new for the NHL in SPC's(Standard Player Contract)
Long before the NHL career of Seth Jarvis began, he was just a kid with aspirations of playing in the NHL. During those days, Jarvis sported a hair dew that resembled one that current NFL star QB Joe Burrow has.
In the photo that the Hurricanes shared to social media, features a picture of a youth hockey card of a young Seth Jarvis sporting a bleached-blonde hair style with a current day picture of Cincinnati Bengals' QB Joe Burrow sporting the same hair style.
The caption of the photo is a quote from Seth Jarvis making a light-hearted joke of beating Burrow to the punch with that look saying "I was Joe Burrow before Joe Burrow.''
Burrow, 27, was drafted with the 1st overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. The LSU standout, has since developed into one of the best young QB's in the NFL, leading the Bengals to the AFC Championship game twice in back-to-back years and one Super Bowl appearance.
With the 2024-2025 Hurricanes season kicking off shortly, the Hurricanes will hope that Seth Jarvis can replicate the same success this year that Burrow has brought to the Bengals in the recent past.
Jarvis scored a career high 33 goals and 67 points last year in the 2023-2024 campaign. With his new contract in tow, the Hurricanes will hope that Jarvis will continue to put up big numbers as the Hurricanes look to get back to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006.
