Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi will be on the shelf for at least a few games according to Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour.

"He's out for probably at least a week," Brind'Amour said Tuesday morning. "Nothing too serious, which is good."

It will be the first time the Finnish forward has missed a game all season.

Kotkaniemi played just 7:42 against the Boston Bruins on Saturday, with his last shift ending with 4:38 remaining in the second period.

Replay showed Kotkaniemi coming up with a bit of limp after battling for position in front of the Bruins and after the game, Brind'Amour stated that Kotkaniemi had "tweaked" something.

The Finnish center has primarily centered the team's second line this season, logging 11 goals, 31 points (30 of which have been at even-strength) and 63 hits with 14:00 of average ice time.
