Avalanche forward Ross Colton left last nights game in the 2nd period against the Utah Hockey Club with a apparent upper-body injury.

When it comes to bad luck, the saying is when it rains, it pours. For the Avalanche that holds true, as their leading goal scorer Ross Colton left last nights game in the 2nd period after appearing to have suffered a injury to his hand.
The Avalanche who are already missing Gabriel Landeskog as he continues to try and make his return after missing the last two seasons and forwards Valeri Nichushkin and Jonathan Drouin, now are facing the possibility of being without their leading goal scorer in Ross Colton.
Colton, 28, has got off to a hot start for the Avalanche this season, scoring 7 goals in 8 games to start the season. If Colton were to miss time that could really hurt the Avalanche, who have just got back to the .500 mark; winning 4 in a row after dropping the first 4 games to start the season.
The injury to Colton appeared to occur during the 2nd period in last nights game against the Utah Hockey Club. While trying to disrupt Utah forward and former Av, Alex Kerfoots' shot attempt, it appears as thought the follow through from Kerfoot's shot hit Colton on the hand. Colton skated to the bench shaking his hand and did not return.
As of now, it is not known if the decision for Colton to exit the game was precautionary or if he will miss any actual time.
In the meantime, the Avalanche are off for the next two days before taking the ice again on Sunday to square off with the Ottawa Senators in Colorado.
