After completing his conditioning stint for the Colorado Eagles of the AHL, Kaapo Kahkonen will make his Avalanche and season debut tonight in goal; Avalanche get bad news on Ross Colton

The Colorado Avalanche will have a new face in between the pipes tonight when they take on the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight at Ball Arena.
After claiming goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets back on October 11th, the Finnish born goaltender will finally make his Avalanche debut after completing his conditioning stint for the Colorado Eagles of the AHL.
Kahkonen, 28, appeared in two games for the Eagles going 0-2-0 with a 2.57 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.
The Avalanche decided to assign Kahkonen to the AHL to get some playing time after visa issues prevented Kahkonen from joining the Avalanche after being claimed from Winnipeg.
With starting goaltender Alexandar Georgiev off to a very slow start this season, posting a 1-4 record with a 4.62 GAA and .822 save percentage. The Avalanche are hoping Kahkonen can provide the team with stellar goaltending, something they haven't been getting with Georgiev so far in this young season.
On the injury front, the Avalanche announced earlier today that leading goal scorer Ross Colton will miss 6-8 weeks after taking a shot to his foot in their 5-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night.
Colton is added to the long list of Avalanche players who are out of the lineup, joining captain Gabriel Landeskog, Valeri Nichushkin, Artturi Lehkonen, and Jonathan Drouin.
In addition to the bad news on Colton, the Avalanche also be without forward Miles Wood for 7-10 days with an upper-body injury.
With Colton and Wood out of the lineup, the Avalanche recalled T.J. Tynan and defenseman Oliver Kylington will be dressing as a forward in tonight's game.
