Sean Monahan(12, 13), Adam Fantilli(7), Dmitri Voronkov(11, 12), and Kirill Marchenko(14) powered the Blue Jackets offense, while Elvis Merzļikins made 24 saves as the Columbus Blue Jackets crushed the Bruins for the second time this season.
The story of this game was the Columbus special teams. Dmitri Voronkov scored a pair of power-play goals, and Sean Monahan scored another for a perfect three-for-three night for the CBJ man advantage. The Jackets' PK also killed two Boston power plays as well. The Jackets PK has been just as hot as their PP. The Jackets' powerplay has now gone 10 for its last 30 (30%), and the PK has killed off 14 of the last 15 power plays it's faced (93.3%). Yeah, they're hot.
Zach Werenski had four assists on the night as he continues his quest to not only be the best player on the team but to be in the Norris conversation throughout the year. He now sits in third among all NHL defensemen in points with 39, 1st in goals with 11, and 4th in assists with 28.
Kirill Marchenko continues to rack up points as well. With 40 points on the season, he now has the second most points through 36 games in team history. He also has 13 points in the last 7 games and is a plus-17 on the year. He's only two points shy of his career high of 42, which he set last season. He's also just 9 goals shy of his career-high as well. He only has one power-play goal on the season, so imagine if he ever gets clicking in that part of his game.
The Jackets are now 15-15-6 with 36 points. They're 5th in the Metro and sit two points behind the second wildcard spot.
