The Blue Jackets and Rangers would go scoreless in regulation and overtime.

The Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers played 65 minutes and couldn't score a goal, so it went to a shootout. Vincent Trocheck would score the only goal for either team, sending the Jackets home with a 1-0 shootout loss. The loss halts a 6-game winning streak, but they now have a seven-game points streak and continue to hold the first wild card spot by one point over the Ottawa Senators.

Daniil Tarasov and Igor Shesterkin put on a master goaltending class on Saturday night. Both goalies made some highlight saves and frustrated the opposing team's shooters all night. Tarasov made a pair of breakaway saves on Mika Zibanejad in OT and stopped him in the shootout as well.

Dean Evason said after the game, "Both teams played hard. It might not have been exciting as far as scoring goals, but the effort was there by both teams, the desperation was there by both teams, the patience. I really liked how our hockey club stayed within ourselves. We didn't panic, didn't open it up. We gave up some stuff, but we got some stuff as well. Just comes down to a shootout and they find one, we don't."

Crazy Stat Of The Game: Daniil Tarasov becomes the first goalie in NHL history to record his first career shutout and lose that same game.
